The message of Paul for the church of today is that one may well have freedom in Christ, but it must be used with discretion and with care for the sake of the vulnerable. One’s own freedom in some matters of behaviour can be put aside when a faith crisis for another is at stake. To relinquish one’s freedom is not to lose it; it is one way of using it.
•If you are single, use your singleness for God’s kingdom.
•If you are married, honor God through love and commitment.
•If you are in a mixed marriage, be a light to your spouse and trust God for their salvation.
Every man has his gift. Most of you be married, stay married, and fulfill the physical part of marriage. Don’t abstain from each other except for a brief time of prayer. You that are single, if it’s single and without desire for fulfillment in marriage, single and totally given over to the Lord and loving it, then thank God for the beautiful gift that He’s given.
Salvation is Not by Works, But Works Show Salvation
